Labor Day Poem

2 September 2011 | No Comments »

It’s Labor Day weekend so let the fun begin
Celebrate with friends & beer, whiskey, or gin

Labor Day is always the first Monday of September
What a good weekend to go on a bender

We work so hard all day and night
It’s in our blood to fight the good fight

We’re sick of inflation and the increase in tax
But this Labor Day weekend, let’s try to relax

The fun-in-the-sun summer season brings on a variety of exciting activities and outdoor social interests that everyone is in desperate need of after a long winter.  Whether you enjoy going to a lake, catching a ballgame or relaxing in a park, summer is the time to be outside with the company of friends and a cool beverage. Unfortunately, with the rise in temperatures, there is also a rise in drunk driving across the nation.

Alcohol Doesn’t “Kill” Brain Cells – Well Hell Yeah!

29 January 2011 | No Comments »

There have been a ton of articles floating around lately about new studies showing that alcohol DOES NOT kill brain cells. Well hell yeah! Studies now show that drinking in moderation does not actually kill brain cells as some scientists previously stated. Obviously, years of alcohol abuse can have an effect on cognition, but the way most of us drink there is no long term effect. Even in extreme cases of alcoholism, there is a slim to none chance that someone will actually “kill” brain cells.

Happy New Years!

30 December 2010 | No Comments »

As another year ends and a new one begins, this is a time for family and friends.

Let’s all have fun and laugh and cheer, and wash down the last year with a little bit of beer.

As we all look back at 2010 and all the silly things we’ve done, we’ll toast to the New Year with a drink of rum.

It’s time to reflect, but not a time to complain. A time to celebrate, so grab some champagne.

Change It Indiana

29 June 2010 | No Comments »

In Indianapolis, a group of retailers recently created a new campaign called “Change It Indiana” in hopes to push for Sunday carryout alcohol sales, and also in hopes of legalizing cold beer sales in convenience stores, grocery stores, and drug stores in the state of Indiana. There are currently 47 of the 50 states (I think there is still 50 states) that allow Sunday carryout sales. It is stated that Indiana loses somewhere around 9 million dollars a year in tax revenue of alcohol sales to surrounding states. Best of luck from Dick Liquor. We all hope you “Change It Indiana!”
